Abstract

Bullying among adolescents remains a major issue in educational settings and negatively affects students’ psychological well-being, social relationships, and academic achievement. Previous studies indicate that bullying prevention requires approaches that not only address behavioral problems but also strengthen students’ character through guidance and counseling services. This article aims to examine the role of character value-based group guidance services as a strategy for preventing bullying among adolescents. This study employed an article review (literature review) method by examining relevant scientific publications on bullying, group guidance services, and character education published between 2016 and 2025. The collected literature was analyzed descriptively through identification, thematic classification, comparison of previous findings, and synthesis to obtain a comprehensive understanding of the effectiveness of character value-based group guidance services. The findings indicate that most studies reported that integrating character values such as empathy, responsibility, tolerance, honesty, and cooperation into group guidance services enhances students’ prosocial behavior, social competence, and self-control, thereby contributing to the prevention of bullying behavior. Furthermore, techniques such as sociodrama, role playing, modeling, and group discussion were found to strengthen the effectiveness of character development interventions. These findings suggest that character value-based group guidance services represent an effective preventive strategy for creating safe, inclusive, and character-oriented educational environments.
